Hello Cool World

Hey gang, whatcha up to Saturday? I’ll tell ya what you’re up to: You’ll be at The Nectar in Fremont for Pinkapalooza 3 to see me, KGHB, and Robotronica! You can do these things with a smile because all of the proceeds are going to Child’s Play. That’s pretty awesome amirite? Peep the flier for deets!

You know what’s awesome that I’ve been meaning to post about for a long ass time? Schaffer The Darklord’s newest album MANSLAUGHTERER.

This album has lived in my car since it arrived in the mail. The Darklord persona is an extremely interesting one and it allows Schaffer to tackle a slew of different scenarios from a dark point of view. The bangers on the album, “The Bender” and “Goddamnit” are catchy, well written, and will never ever get radio play, and I’m almost 83% sure that doesn’t bother Schaffer one bit. There have been some nerdcore acts that have done some horror influenced tracks or even albums, but no one has come close to the quality found in Manslaughterer. Tracks like “Buckets of Blood” and “The Other Devil” are at some points terrifying and conjure the worst kind of 4chan memories, but they are so well laid out and performed that you can’t help to repeat and sing along. The Darklord has made Popeye scary. He has that kind of power. Schaffer is still all geek though. Why “Pixilated Vixen” isn’t playing all the time on G4 is beyond me (or is it? I haven’t had cable in well over year). And as a fellow performer, I can’t help but hold a special place in my heart for “Club Destroyer.” The third track on a nerd rap album is a punk song, and it’s awesome! Who woulda thunk? So clearly you should purchase this album post-haste. Have a lied to you yet? The answer is: nope. Also, I will give someone lots of stuff (money, handjobs, ect.) if they make an animated video for the epic “Battlefont.” Consider it.

I’m very sorry it’s taken me so long to post. As some know I went back to school to get that piece of paper Shael sang about in “Post-Collegiate Shuffle.” I had my last final of the semester yesterday so I have finally gained freedom! Woot! So I have filled this time by doing shows. Shows that you should attend. Sorry, no tour or anything like that, but if you’re in the Northwest like me, maybe we can hangout and I can rap your face off. Consider it.

Things are finally coming together for With Sprinkles, but won’t have it out before the end of the year. I blame it on that whole school thing I mentioned earlier. But I can tell you the CD will feature awesome people like MC Lars, Schaffer The Darklord, ytcracker, and bunches more. It’s so awesome it might make you cry. It’ll at least make your eyes sweat if you’re really manly and thus unable to cry. I’ll keep ya posted. <3

Vote For Beefy

If you’re visiting this website, I assume you kind of dig me and my music, and would be excited to learn a new song of mine has become available. That’s happened. As part of Nerdcore Rising’s SongFight contest I have entered a new track called “Feature Creep.” If you were so inclined, you could very well go, listen to the song, and if you like it you could vote for it. I demand nothing. Simply a suggestion. You can vote via e-mail or Twitter (make sure you’re already logged in).

And there you have it. I hope you dig the track. The music was produced by the mighty Mustin but I mixed it myself, so don’t blame him for that. We’ll be doing a much more polished version of the track for With Sprinkles, as well as 8 other tracks together including Game Store Girl. Shit is getting real. Just got a verse from YTCracker which is hot. Nerdy South coming alive! Love you guys.

Show Recap, Review, and Schoolin’

Long time no see website. There’s a lot of stuff to catch up on.

Back on the 10th I did a show at The High Dive with my new music friends Kirby Krackle. The show was a blast and I wanna thank the guys of KK and everyone at the show for the love and support. There was a really great environment at that gig. We’ll for sure have to do some more of those in the near future. If you weren’t there (or you’ve never been to one of my shows) my good Seattle friend Jarod recorded it and it is available now over at the Internet Archive.

A few weeks ago one of my new favorite MCs dropped a free album. Don’t you love it when that happens?

K.Flay has dropped Mashed Potatoes free on her website and it is worth even the 8 hours it would take to download on dial-up. Thankfully you have the real internet so you’ll be able to groove to it in minutes. K.Flay takes popular, banging commercial beats and remixes them and the proceeds to remix the concept and content of these songs to suit her style. The album top to bottom is a complete success. Mashed Potatoes has, in my opinion, the 4 best opening tracks to an album possible. My only complaint with the album in general is that I want each track to be a verse longer. I don’t want it to stop. My favorite track is “CRAZYtown”, Flay’s take on pharmaceuticals set to Gnarls Barkley’s mega-successful “Crazy.” Her breakdown of oddly common mental illnesses and our American need to suppress them, all the while questioning if it’s really that wrong to feel the way we were built to feel, really speaks to Flay’s ability as a writer and a performer. K.Flay is a triple threat. She’s a great writer, performer, and producer. If I could program even the shittiest of beats I would feel like a king. K.Flay is set to surpass everyone. Thankfully for my type she is in no way branding her music as nerdcore or anything similar. It’s just really good. Plus this shit is $Free.99 so get it right now and understand what I’m talking about.

On a personal note, I started going to school again. Yeah. I know. It didn’t work out long ago, but as I’ve aged and become more wise I’ve decided I’d be an adult about the whole thing and give it an honest shot. By, like, actually going to classes and whatnot. If I fall behind on anything, blame it on that.

ThyBoyd, creator of a bunch of Grammar Club and Beefy fan vids on YouTube, has started a fun game of The Adventures of Beef Thompson in the forums. You should give that a looky-look.

I think that’s all for now. Love you.

Post-PAX and SHOW TONIGHT!

Hey gang. I hope you didn’t catch the Swine Flu at PAX. I seem to be fine, but that’s probably because I’m comprised out of about 40% robot parts at this point. I had a blast and if I saw you there and we conversed I hope you couldn’t tell I was a cyborg. My favorite part of the con was this…

Everyone was amazing. Especially the good people at the Taco Del Mar. They took all the TDMs out of the Tri-Cities so I went there about 8363482 times. Worth it! I even met a few of my heroes…

As you know, there was no pre-PAX show this year. That filled me with sadness. There is, however, a show TONIGHT!

if you’ve ever been to a pre-PAX show then you should know the location. I guess it’s technically in Fremont, but who really pays that close of attention? I’ll be rocking out and sharing the stage with comic book rock gods Kirby Krackle. I’m as excited to meet them as I am to hear them live. I was hipped to them by the good people at the newly re-dubbed Pink Gorilla and I’ve since played them on the podcast. Look forward to an amazing $7 show. It’ll be a little like this…

Make a night of it. Call in sick tomorrow. Buy me a White Russian. Let’s have fun tonight! I know I will.

Forums, MMA, and a Review. Oh My!

I might be asking for trouble, but I put a forum on the site. Yeeeeah baby. Basically it’ll be there to better give you guys updates if ya want em or wanna drop science re: nerdcore or JALP or whatevers. You can visit the forum right here. Peep the logo at the top left. That took all kinds of work. For reals… no it didn’t. Damnit.

I’ve made jokes with jokes with Jones before about MMA, and I just wanna make it clear. Fans of MMA: Usually hilarious idiots. MMA itself: Kinda badass. How can you not love a sport where dudes are encouraged to slam their knees into other people’s faces? Our new friends at Martial Mix in Australia made a dope ass promo vid using The Grammar Club’s “Red Cyclone.” It’s kinda really cool.

Last but not least, my good friend MC Lars just dropped a new EP with his good friend and talented rapper K.Flay.

Single and Famous hosts seven tracks with topics ranging from kid parties to running trains on chicks. For reals. I’m in love with the hook on “Running Trains.” It’s ill. We all love Lars. That’s established. He always brings the good times. The highlight of this album is the introduction of K.Flay. I know she’s been doing her own thing for a while, but this is exposing her to a billion more people and that’s a great thing. She is not at all nerdcore. Neither is Lars for that matter. But they both groove in their different ways and spit rhymes that will please people that check out this site for sure. Some of the concepts and topics of the album aren’t as varied as we’ve seen previously from Lars, but you can tell a lot of fun went into creating it. The single “Single and Famous” is however a banger and I didn’t want it to end. The video is hotness too. Check it out.

I clearly need to move to the Bay Area. You can just break shit over there it looks like. Anywho, the best part of the EP is that for the mp3s it’s only $3 and you can download em right away. It’s a beautiful kinda thing. Check it out right the F now. Do it. Rapido!

Also, on a personal note, With Sprinkles (the new album I’m working on) will officially feature Doctor Awkward. Dude is dope. Also slated to show up on tracks (though, ya never know) are MC Lars, YTCracker, Dual Core, Zealous 1, and Epic-1. It’s happening. Just much slower than I’d like.

-love beefy.

Things You Should Be Listening To

I really need to update this more. I mean, I’d like to, but nothing is popping around here right now. Work work work. With Sprinkles. Mustin album. Grammar Club. You know the drill. But that doesn’t mean my friends aren’t putting in work!

Last’s year’s biggest surprise in excellence in my mind was without a doubt Dual Core’s Lost Reality. This year int80 and c64 have done it again with Next Level. Both men have evolved into the hip-hop equivalent of Thanos because they have the world in their hands right now. Tracks like “Letter to c64″ and “For You” give you the updates you need on our boys, while tracks like “Kick Back” and “Alright” let you know that they’re only going to go further. int80 displays that he can work with a concept (see: The Hollow and Here to Help) as well produce some of the best story verses seen not only in nerdcore but in hip-hop in general (see: The Game and Life’s Work). I’m telling you right now that your favorite song is going to be “Painting Pictures.” Assuming you’re not made of stone (a lot of D&D monsters actually follow my blog so I’d hate to assume) this will move it. You can’t even help it. It’s a beautiful story told so well that int80 is less of a writer on this track and more of a director, making c64 the director of photography with his beautiful, soulful music. You’re going to see this girl in your mind’s eye. You’ll see her parents. You’ll almost forget you’re listening to a song. In Florida David and I discovered we’d both been on the train of thought and that it had influenced us, and I can honestly say that not only is he one of the best MCs I’ve ever had the good fortune to experience, he’s also a great guy and he’s become a fast friend. Pick up their album. You won’t regret it. c64 is almost a hidden treasure (I say almost because in the next year you’re going to be seeing him EVERYWHERE) and together Dual Core is the best thing in the nerd scene right now.

int80 and I rocking out with MC Lars’ band including Mike Russo

Speaking on MCs I truly admire and respect but still have a personal relationship with, you guys didn’t forget about Wheelie Cyberman right? The front man of Optimus Rhyme may not be rocking with Grimrock, Stumblebee, or Powerthighs anymore, but don’t think for a second he’s forgotten how to rock a mic. Enter Stenobot and Tron Juan and you have the foundation to Supercommuter. And now we are privileged to have a full new album from my Northwest brothers. While it has a much different backing than Wheelie’s previous team, it still features his trademark flow and wordplay and he puts on a clinic on tongue twisters that will have you running to the lyrics page. Optimus Rhyme was (ok, still is) my favorite band and has been since the very first night I opened for them in 2006, so at first it was difficult for me to accept this new presentation, but by the end of the album it was clear that while this was indeed a whole different kind of beast, it was still powerful. You can cop their album now and while you wait for your CD you can get all the mp3s for immediate satisfaction. You should do that right now. Go on.

If you follow my Twitter than you know I just leaked a track from my upcoming album With Sprinkles called “None of Your Business.” Part of me wants to post it here, but it would be more special if I left it for my Twitter followers (and, by extension, my Facebook friends) so you should follow if you’re interested. Shael Riley says it’s the best song I’ve ever put out and it’s just a demo. Do you really want to be the person who doubts Shael? I wouldn’t.

Oh! And I also made “Table Top” and “You Can Call Me Beef” downloadable on the Rolling Doubles page. Enjoy :)

That’s all for now. Love you much and look forward to new stuff asap. <3

Nerdapalooza Post Game (I Like To Cuddle)

Hey homeslices. I’m back in the cozy TC after a handful of days down in the nerdy South of Orlando, FL for Nerdapalooza 2009. We had mic issues. We had drum issues. We had mixer and time issues. And through all that Grammar Club still put on a fun show for the kids. I hope you guys dug it. I promise though that if I’m invited back next year I’m running everything through my iPod like usual.

Before I get too carried away: serious business! T-Shirts. Beefy T-Shirts! S-XL available right the f now. Buy one. Seriously. Please. They were first made available at Nerdapalooza and now that I’m home and rested I’ve decided to make them available to you! Boosh! If you do get one or you got one at the show, plz take a pic and send em to me. That would be lovely!

It was a blast getting to do “Magnificent 7″ during the Dual Core set, “Hot Topic is Not Punk Rock” during MC Lars’ set, and “Nerdcore Rising” during MC Frontalot’s set. mc chris even gave me a pep talk in the parking lot after my set. But by far the MVP of NPLZA09 was Shaffer The Darklord. I think he still might be backing a couple sets as I type this.

It was also amazing to meet JALP friends 2Tum and Lady Rei while I was there. Faithful Seven really represented in a big way. Check out what my boy 2Tum was rocking when I saw him!

Lots of animosity was squashed and I got along with everyone who was there. I even lost gracefully to MC Wreckshin on Street Fighter 4, but it is agreed that we are both way better than Shael Riley. No doubt about it. That kid’s all talk. It was amazing getting to hang out with Shael for the first time. We rocked an open mic the Wednesday we arrived and it was like we’d been friends forever but just hadn’t seen each other in a long time. He was in his alternate costume, so he was hard to pick out of a crowd.

All in all it was a great trip and a fun show and I hope I can go back next year and do it better. Much love to Andrew of the Nerdy Show and his gf Jesse for putting me up for the week. They were above and beyond. Also thanks to Jason and everyone at A Comic Shop for helping me out and hosting the amazing free Pre-Party. It is the best comic shop that side of the Mississippi and one of the best I’ve ever been to, if for no other reason than their dope ass bathroom door. I hope everyone I met all the best and I look forward to hopefully getting to party with you all again in that scary vertigo-inducing Holiday Inn real soon. Thanks to all the people who came up to me just to say what’s up. You guys were amazing. Also thanks to the dudes that gave me that giant slice of pizza. Oh, and the dudes who let me crash in their room. That was tits. Also to YT and the DGs and Chozo for hooking it up with some fancy dinner in downtown Orlando. Praise be to the Spam God. So long and loves.

More Cools Arts and an Interview

The other day I did an interview with ThePaintedMan.com. You should go check it out. Post haste!

I also did another trace doodle fanart thing, this time for my good friend and collaborator Doc Pop.

Also, this might be the coolest piece of fan art nerdcore has had. Got an e-mail from fan Lance and he told me he did some computer work for a friend and as payment his buddy Bob Raymond drew this.

I feel as though this nerdcore army could destroy entire worlds. And a majority of the people in this sketch will be at Nerdapalooza, so you should be too!

Fan Art

Recently I’ve been making little trace images for my friends like I used to back in the day. So far I’ve done pieces for YT, Lars, and my gf Chandra. Check em out.

Well I think my new friend Bronson must have checked them out, because instead of studying for his finals, he made this!

Thank you very much Bronson! I loves it!

If you are so inclined to make me fan art, you totally should. And then you should send it to me! Thanks!

Keeping it Connected

Hey gang. It’s that time again when I throw up a new wordpress design for no reason and remind a handful of you that visit that I’m still alive. For reals. This is blood pumping through these veins! Work is still being done on both solo albums (Untitled Mustin project and multiple producer With Sprinkles!) as well as working on more tracks for the new Grammar Club album. We’re doing work with Dual Core’s very own c64 which, so far, is sounds very very good.

I also wanted to remind everyone where else they could find… me. To the right you’ll see the Elsewhere section with links to my various pages on other sites, but allow me to also help that would with graphics!

Hey! Wanna know what I think about the food I’m about to eat or what kind of shitty day I’m having? Perhaps you would like to read interesting fan fiction on a Friday afternoon? Look no further than my Twitter page my friend!

Ah yes. I finally got a facebook page. And you can become a fan! You really can! You can also add my Keith A. Moore account if you’re so inclined as well.

I know peeps are hating on MySpace these days, but I also know there is still some love for it out there. If you have love in your heart for Fox Corp, I’ll still be there for ya.

I don’t post many vids, and when I do it’s of an adorable little girl I call Nugget, but with Nerdapalooza coming up it’s a safe bet there will be more vids posted very very soon! Plus you can go back and watch vids of me being an idiot. Yay!

Thesixtyone is cool because it’s part game, part radio service. I loves it. Plus I’m kinda popular on that site so you should all go join as soon as possible! Please!

Not much exciting about my Last.FM page, but it’s cool and maybe you could leave me a shout or two. Plus it’s interesting who I’m a similar artist to (and who I’m not).

I love Flickr. Sadly for most it’s just become a place for me to post pics of Nugget, but again, with Nerdapalooza coming up you can rest assured I’m going to be snapping a shit-ton of pics. Flickr ownz!

It’s not very useful, but I totally have my own imdb page. How cool is that?!

I do in fact have a Wikipedia page, but it’s frequently getting vandalized by people who find fat jokes to be the height of hilarity. Some useful info though if you’re new to the site.

And please don’t forget you can catch Jones and myself on our (sometimes) weekly podcast Just Another Lazy Podcast. Become a member of the Faithful Seven and, who knows, maybe some day we’ll have JALP decoder rings and membership badges!

Well this was all surprisingly more work than I wanted to do. Stay tuned as I come back with more info on gigs and music. In the meantime… courage!
